United African Organization is a dynamic coalition of African community-based organizations that promotes social and economic justice, civic participation, and empowerment of African immigrants and refugees in Illinois.
We formed in 2009 as a result of a series of listening sessions in Waukegan churches and other local institutions. The sessions — sponsored by Lake County United — highlighted a universal need and urgent priority to help their sons and daughters get to and through college graduation.
The Garfield Park Community Council is a community-building organization made up of dedicated residents and allies working together to develop leaders and create opportunities and programs that build a vital Garfield Park community.

It is a center and a resource for Family Focused Organizing, leadership development and community building focused on the well being of children, youth and families.
We are a small office, but we have accomplished a great deal. We’re an opinionated group, believe strongly in collaboration, and work well as a team. We believe in our mission and are proud of our accomplishments.
